I just wanted to share a few things I have crocheted recently. I am really starting to get into crocheting! It is relaxing.

The first two pictures show the crochet hook holder I made. Very easy.

Vacation and Family Tree

We are heading to Florida on Sunday and I haven't packed a thing yet! I am excited to go but I guess I just don't know where to start. I have been thinking a lot about family since that is where we are going is to visit family.

I decided to start working on our family tree so that Ryan will know more about his family. Something interesting that I have discovered is that information is limited if you are not closely connected to your family in some areas. I have went all the way back to my great, great, great grandfather down one line but the other areas I can barely make it past my grandparents.

I know that I have connections to the following surnames: Winters (my maiden name), Chrislip, Wilde, Donithan (Donathan; somewhere down the line someone changed the spelling of the name), Conn, and Warner.

My husband so far I have discovered is connected to the following surnames: Purvis, Goodpaster, Cassity, Stiddom, and Montgomery.

I think that history is so interesting. It is even fun to discover another piece of the puzzle when it is your history and your family. Date night!

Tonight is date night. It has been a long time since Farley and I have had the chance to get out and do something alone without worrying about what time we needed to be home. Tonight my MIL is keeping Ryan overnight for us. Wow..... it has been way over a year since we have had the whole night without Ryan. I love my little boy but I am excited to get a little break.

On another note I wanted to see what you thought about this photo I took of Ryan back in the fall. Let me know what you think if you have time to comment.

So blessed

So the other night Farley (my husband) and I watched a really great movie, Fireproof. It has a great storyline and I would recommend it to any and all couples I know. Farley and I had already started the "Love Dare" a few weeks ago and we are so much closer now.

We were always close until we had Ryan. Ryan was born with Hyperinsulinism. There were about 12 hospitalizations, tons of medications, doctor visits, money issues, medical bills, the decision to leave Ryan with my MIL and go back to work. Wow... the last two years have been busy and tiring.

I know the only reason that we pulled through is through our shared love of Jesus Christ. We are growing together in our faith and I am so excited to share with everyone else. God has truly blessed my family in so many ways.

I am also happy to see that God is also blessing other families out there. I came across a person that truly shows God's work in progress. I hope that you will take a few minutes to check out her blog. Love is in the air!

Look at this! My hubby for no reason just decided to bring me home flowers along with the groceries! How sweet is that! I have been truly blessed with a great husband. He takes care of me and Ryan so well. He would do anything for us. He is a great man working for the Lord. I am truly blessed!

Above is a picture of my son at the park. It was a little windy that day so we couldn't stay long but let me tell you... that boy loved the slides!

What can I say. I have a great husband who I know loves me. He shows it everyday in the little things he does for me. He has even been helping me paint my foyer. He is a master trimmer in my eyes. So thank you Farley! I love you so much.

I can also say that I have a sweet, kind little boy. Although there are times when his whinning can get a bit old... he is still my baby boy. Overall he is a great kid. I am looking forward to our days at the park this summer. I love you little RyRy!

Crafters gone wild

I'm in a creative mood this week! I am really excited that this friday night I will be hosting our first craft night. I think it is really going to be fun to hang out, craft and enjoy company. We are going to be making bowls out of old quilts! How cool is that. I know this isn't photography but I plan to get some pictures from the event. This should be interesting!

Other than that there isn't much going on. Just cleaning house and preparing to paint a few rooms. I'll try to remember to take some photos of the room redos while I'm at it! Wish me luck!

I picked up something really great from church this week. We may not be doing everything that we are supposed to be doing in our lifes (God's will for us) but we need to be doing the things we are doing the right way! I loved this and plan to keep it with me always!

Another day of snow and cabin fever!

Me and Ryan

Ryan and I are at home and I think we both have a bad case of cabin fever. I really want to get out and enjoy the outdoors but I don't want Ryan to get sick. He won't be 2 until April and I worry all the time about him getting sick. More so today since he decided to get sick twice last night. No fever or anything now.

I really want to just get out and enjoy life. I want to help where there is things to be done and show Ryan how to do nice things for others. Ryan has been in and out of the hospital since birth due to a rare condition know has Hyperinsulinism. He has trouble with keeping his sugar up. The times that Ryan was in the hospital there was a person that would come along a bring Ryan a toy... every Tuesday. They are an organization called Jarrett's Joy Cart. I have been thinking that I would like to help out in some way with that.

I also asked my preacher to keep me in mind for ways that I can help out in the community. I just keep praying that I can be used in God's will.

Other than that the snow is falling outside and I am trying to keep Ryan occupied with crayons and white paper. It worked for about 5 minutes.... lol. Guess that means it is time to go. So long for now.

Snow/Ice storm

I live in a small town in Kentucky and we rarely get a big snow storm but recently we got that rare big snow storm. We got snow. We got ice. The local school has been out all week. The roads are horrible and a lot of people are without electric due to ice causing tree limbs to fall. There are a ton of people without electric, heat and water.

What is amazing to me is how it can look so beautiful but can be a disaster to so many people. I was fortunate not to loss my electric, heat or water. Today was the first time I had ventured out since the storm hit. There were tree limbs down everywhere and even power lines down in places. There were flooded areas as well.

I managed to get some what I call beautiful pictures of the snow/ice storm and I plan to keep them as a reminder of this event.

I have so many ideas!

Wow isn't amazing how many ideas you can come up with when your wishing there was something to do or somewhere to take your child to play. I keep thinking about how great it would be to have an indoor park!
Wouldn't that just be the coolest thing ever! A big huge place with skylights on the ceiling so there is still tons of natural sunlight coming through. A place that always felt like spring time... when all the flowers are blooming and trees are starting to fill up with leaves. There would be real plants and trees that grow in controlled environments that could provide clean air. There could be wondering paths (the whole floor would be recycled tires maybe in different colors; green for the grass and brown for the paths, and so on).
This place would have a huge playground in the center of the building with tons of room for children to run and play. Around the playground would be benches for mothers/fathers to meet and chat while keeping an eye on their children. There could even be a track around the whole building for mothers and/or fathers to stroll along taking in a long walk. Wow wouldn't that be a great place to relieve some of these winter blues that creep up on us!
With a child under two this would be a dream. A place to hang out all day and let my son run free and exercise to his little hearts desire!

Editing software

I am still trying to figure out the perfect lighting so that I can capture some great photographs in my home studio. I am glad that I captured a few that I liked. The black background seems to be somewhat easier for me to get a decent shot. I really want to learn how to take good photographs in my studio... it is much harder than I first anticipated. The good news is that there are great editing software out there that can help give my photos a professional look.

I usually use Adobe Photoshop software but today I used picnik at www.picnik.com. They have some really great tools and it is free for some editing tools (enough to really do some cool things to your photos). I created the above collage with simple tools from the website. I did a couple of other projects but had some trouble getting them to save to my computer. Not sure what happened but they didn't want to save.

I'm home... no longer working!

Hey I'm so excited! I have been freed from the work force and now I get to be a stay at home mommy to my son! I am so excited because now I can concentrate on being a mom, wife and photographer! My three favorite titles.

I hope that I can teach my son, cook a great meal and finally keep my house clean. I am excited too that I have more time to pursue my real passion, photography.

So above is a picture of my home studio. It works for now but I actually found that I need more lighting.

Working on my studio

Okay, okay so I haven't posted a photo yet but it is coming I promise. Just wanted to share with you about setting up my studio. First... my studio for the time being is in what used to be our home office. Well, my husband put up some shelves and then I started packing things away and before we knew it we had all this room for me to use. Well, lets just say this room is already getting small once we figured out how to put the light boxes together! Hilarious! It is still a work in progress but it is still exciting to have a place to take some photographs!

2009 a new year, new dreams

I'm excited about 2009. I have so many things I want to do this year.... teach my son new things, take more photos!, exercise, enjoy time with friends and family, and most of all be a servant to God.

My first plan of action is get more energy! I want to be active! I want to get out and enjoy life every single day! Starting today I will do just that. Maybe I can document this journey in photographs! Yes this is what I plan to do! I will photograph my journey of 2009!

Hi I'm Tasha. I'm 26 years old, married to a wonderful man named Farley and together we have one son, Ryan. Photography has been a passion of mine since I was a little girl but only recently did I decide to devote more time to it. I guess I am here mostly to share my journey of photography and learn from others as well. I have already found so many great photographers!
